Salad Bar Menu
The client is a modern salad bar specializing in fresh, healthy, and customizable salad-based lunches, along with nutritious drinks such as smoothies and cold-pressed juices. The challenge was to design a menu that communicates freshness and health, while making it easy for customers to navigate and order quickly, both in-store and online.
Problem
The client’s previous menu was text-heavy and lacked visual hierarchy. Customers found it difficult to:
Identify signature dishes at a glance
Understand the “Build-Your-Own Salad” process
This resulted in longer wait times and a less engaging customer experience.
Goals & Objectives
The main objectives were to:
Create a clean and modern design that reflects the brand’s values of health and sustainability.
Simplify the menu structure for easy decision-making.
Highlight key product categories such as Signature Salads, Build-Your-Own, and Drinks.
Design both a printed menu and a digital-friendly version for social media and mobile viewing.
Design Approach
My design process included four key stages:
1. Research & Discovery
I studied competitor menus and healthy lifestyle brands to understand layout trends and customer expectations.
Insights gathered:
Clear categorization helps reduce decision fatigue.
Visual cues such as icons and color coding make dietary info easy to find.
Minimalistic designs with fresh imagery resonate with health-conscious customers.
2. Brand Alignment
I developed a fresh and natural color palette, inspired by leafy greens, citrus fruits, and earthy tones.
Typography was chosen to balance modernity and readability:
Headings: clean, bold sans-serif for impact
Body text: soft, easy-to-read serif or sans-serif
3. Menu Structure & Layout
The menu was divided into three clear sections:
Signature Salads – curated favorites with descriptions
Build-Your-Own Salad – step-by-step process made simple and visual
Healthy Drinks – smoothies, juices, and teas with vibrant visuals
4. Final Design Execution
I created both print and digital versions:
Print version: A4 format
Digital version: Optimized for window/shop display
