“Character design for Alice in Wonderland”
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.”
“I don’t much care where –”
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.”
“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Here is another classic book ” The Little Prince”
Before sketching the story, my first step is to study thumbnail sketches, carefully selecting the best angle, layout, and orientation—whether portrait or landscape—to effectively convey the narrative and determine where the text should be integrated.
I do not eat bread. Wheat is of no use to me.
The wheat fields have nothing to say to me. And that is
sad.
But you have hair that is the color of gold. Think how
wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The
grain, which is also golden, will bring me back the
thought of you.
And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat
The pilot loved the desert just like I did.
The desert was beautiful. One sat down on a sand dune, saw nothing, heard nothing. Yet through the silence something
throbbed and gleamed…
“What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well.. and we go to look for it.”
I insisted that he draw me a sheep, which would help me eat the baobab shoots on my planet.
Well, perhaps it was time for me to go back home now
The fifth planet was very strange. It was the smallest of
all. There was just enough room on it for a street lamp
and a lamplighter. His orders were to light his lamp in the
morning and put it out in the evening .
But from year to year, the planet has turned more rapidly,
lasting only one minute, and the orders have not been
changed. So he had to light and extinguish the lamp in
mere seconds.
While it was at least a slight improvement over some of
the other adults I had encountered, as he was concerned
with something besides himself, his planet was simply too
small to accommodate another person.

I use digital tools to sketch and re-draw in ink, then return to digital for coloring. This process is very forgiving of mistakes, allowing me to experiment freely with different color themes, which I truly enjoy.
